Default Cam / Injectors Advice

Hi All,

I'm looking into doing a cam swap on an 02 Z06. The car has a set of long tubes and a Vararam but is otherwise stock. The two cams I am considering are the G5x3 2??/2?? .600/.610 112 LSA from LG motorsports or a TRak Camshaft - 231/234 .640/.590 112 LSA from IPS. Does anyone have any experience with either of these cams in terms of streetability and performance ? Also one person is telling me I should replace my stock injectors with 42# injectors, another person says not needed. Advice ??

Thanks

B

Put in the G5X3, datalog... replace injectors if necessary. I doubt you'll need 42# injectors (but you might need 36#). You want the smallest injectors you can safely run.

You don't want to go too big with the injectors. I went with 36# for my car which actually turn into about a 42# with the 4-bar system the ls's use.

Thanks for the info guys. The stock injector is a 28.5# isn't it ? Also, I am thinking about having the cam and tune done at LG Motorsports in Wylie, TX. at about the halfway point of a roadtrip. How much runtime is required to datalog ? I'm sorry for the dumb questions but I am not familiar with the datalog procedure. I spoke with Bobby at LG (nice folks there) and got a quote on the parts, labor, and tune for the install. They give a discount to forum members too by the way . I don't recall any mention of injectors or datalogging as part of the process. I suppose I should give him another call to clarify this. I don't want to run too lean for the 1,700 mile remainder of the trip and risk any damage.

I ran the G5X3-114 for about 5 years with stock injectors -- no problems there.

Datalogging is part of the tuning process. Have no fear... Bobby and LG will take good care of you.
