Lexan Windows?
I'm curious if anyone is running one of these. I came across it during a "shopping" session at summit racing online. My windshield has seen better days and i'm wondering if lexan might be a good alternative.
How much does it usually cost to replace the windshield?

Lexan is NOT good for the street as a windshield. I have a lexan rear window on my C4 and I'm sure that some of the guys in the road racing section that have track C5's can chime in more. Lexan scratches because it is plastic. On the street as a windshield it would scratch quickly and would need to be replaced often. It's not as big of an issue for race cars because they do a race or two and then replace it when it starts to scratch too much. It is a lot lighter than glass but if it's just a street car I would NOT recommend Lexan as a windshield.

Lexan, even though it is real hard, does scratch quite fast, plus untra violet light makes it cloudy. So need to be replaced a few times a year
any cleaning solution not made for Lexan will scratch. Even Windex

I found with my Specter Werkes headlight lenses (also made of Lexan) that if treated with a Hard clearcoat, it is MUCH more scratch resistant than bare lexan. The optics of my headlight aren't affected by the clearcoat treatment, only the sharp 45 degree angle of the lens just in front of the projectors distorts output.
