Thanks everyone for the responses to the 'pinging' from my 1998. I like the idea that carbon buildup may be contributing to the problem. With low miles, I think it's likely it wasn't highway driven much.
What fuel additives have you all used and have had good results with?
Every oil change I run a bottle of Techron through.
I don't drive much and I add a bottle of Techron every other fillup. I was told that one odd problem with owning a performance car is they need Permium fuel, and the problem with high octane gas is it has a built up of carbon on the valves. This came from my GM Master tech, he belives in Top Tier Fuels. He says if you put junk in the tank it'll come back to haunt you one day.
I've been putting in Premium gas from Shell and Texaco. What do you mean by Top Tier Fuels? Is your Master Mechanic suggesting not to use SeaFoam or Techron?

Top Tier fuel is fuel that has met certain benchmarks for performance and additives etcetera recommended by manufacturers of cars and fuels...there is a website (google Top Tier Fuel) that names these companies...
