I replaced my stock run-flats on 04 conv. this year with GSD3's. The stock had 18k, looked good, pleanty of thread, but were hard as rocks. What a difference in ride and noise, if you can afford it don't wait it is worth the dollars. Your chose of tire of course.
Mine had Pirrelli P Zeros on when I bought it. The tyres were only 2 years old with very little wear but had tiny cracks all around the shoulder, the outer edge that is in contact with the road.
I presumed they were age cracks so ditched them for safety. Maybe they would have lasted but not worth the risk. Just my opinion.
One of the GOOD things about Older tires, if you ever wanted to TRY auto-crossing or go to a skid pad. Older tires would be great to TRY these events.
You wont runin NEW tires, but be able to slide slightly with these older tires.
I took a car with older tires, to a skid pad. WOW did I have fun No traction what so ever, so I could get that rear end to swing around with out much trouble. Working on correcting over steer, going semi slidewaise under control.
Then we OPEN the fire hydrent for a WET skid pad. Yipppyyyyy oh that was even more fun.
