I got engaged to my girlfriend 2 nights ago. Yesterday we were talking about the honeymoon and she said that we should take the Vette on a roadtrip around the USA. Not being one to turn down a roadtrip, I started planning what we could do.
I've done a couple longer distance trips on my bike, so I know the basics. Is there anything special I should do with my car? It'd be a 1-2 week thing, so we could probably put a good amount of miles in. Only thing I can think of so far is to get a bra for the front so I don't obliterate the bumper. Is there anything you guys can think of that's vette specific that I should watch out for? It would be during the end of summer/beginning of fall of 2010, so I'm not too concerned with snow or anything too bad.
Congratulations. The wife and I have been going on road trips with the vette the last couple of years. I'm sure you'll have a great time. I don't do anything vette specific just the typical checks for any vehicle going on a trip.
Yaa I actually carry those in my car at all times. I also have a can of fix-a-flat just incase.
You may want to consider a pad or mat to throw down if you need to plug a tire. Desert highways get extremely hot!!! I carry a gardening cushion - lightweight and provides some reasonable insulation.
A quart of Mobil One (or whatever you use). You're gonna probably burn a little anyway and a lot of places you stop may not have a synthetic to top off.
You say you do this so you should be good to go but . . (couple of space blankets, flares or reflectors, flashlight, small first aid kit, Jumper cables, Im sure you know the drill)

A small jack may also be a good idea since you never know where the hole could be. I carry the scissors jack in my Nissan ALtima on long trips and it fits under the lowered C5. Imagine the C5 could even be lower with one tire flat.
I made a small tool kit for our last road trip. Screw drivers, plyers, hammer, socket set, blanket, quart of oil, tire plug kit, knife, big flashlight and...duct tape.
don't forget to pack the common sense and patience!!
