Just pull the tail light and reach in. Here are some pics that will help

I see you have a Vert. If it's the passenger side its a little harder as the antenna gets in the way. It's a bit of a squeeze that side.

And be very gentle when you tighten the nuts on the plastic pegs during the re-install. They will snap very easily if overtightened.

The side with the antenna is a little tricky, I ended up going in through the wheel well.

Having replaced mine to amber, I can tell you that it is WAY easier to remove the outer tail lamp than to work you arm around the muffler can. I loosened the muffler mounts on the frame-rain and ALMOST lost the hanger bolt inside the bumper bar. VERY close call.

That's how I changed mine out when one of the pegs broke. Wasn't hard to do, but , do be careful when tightening the nut down on the plastic stud - too much pressure and it will twist off.

I have a 99 vert... I changed the left side through the tail light hole. The right side is another story! There is a huge antenna in the way! I am going to pull the right rear wheel liner to change this one.

I the right side from underneath. Piece of cake since SLP Loudmouth = no mufflers in the way.
