Sorry, didn't mean to sound like I was arguing. I'm just trying to give the OP an honest opinion of Seafoam. I had never heard bad things about it either.

Once again, just giving the OP my honest experience. The shop was a local reputable shop. Neither of us know for sure what needed to be done.

We may be getting a little off line here He asked what the difference was between sea foam and techron. I could be wrong but the way I understand it they are two different products used in different ways.

Just off the top of my head, from what Ive read.

Techron is a fuel additive, you put it in the gas tank and it works to clean up the fuel system and to some extent the combustion path.

Sea foam is a similar product that you CAN add to the gas tank and it will do similar things...but if you read the container it also can be introduced directly into the combustion chambers either through a vacuum line or by pulling the plugs and pouring it in each. It can also be added directly to the oil in the crankcase.

If you either introduced it through the top of the engine (vacuum line or in each cylinder) or if you added it to the oil, I would let it sit for a while (can says five minutes, GM Certified World Class Tech says 12 hours) and start the car, once the smoke clears you should change the oil. The same property that aloows the sea foam to dislodge deposits will make your oil less effective. So it needs to be changed if you put it in the engine rather than through the fuel system.

Regarding hurting O2 sensors/plugs : I have read that in some very cludged up (<== thats a technical term) cars, once you run the sea foam through its dislodges so much crap that it can foul the plugs/O2 sensors. But having said that, with the way the C5 runs, you would have to work very hard to get the LS1 that cludged up. So for the vast majority of our cars here, if I were adding it to the engine I would just change the oil and not worry about it.

I have it on the shelf, after reading up on its use Im gonna wait till my oil change is up and use the sea foam, then do the oil and maybe plugs and wires (bout time I did those anyway).

We have used Seafoam for years at the dealership for carboned up engines without a single problem of any sort!
