Default Shorty headers for a 98

I'm looking for a shorty header that will bolt up with the factory exhaust. Are all of these headers created equal or is there a certain brand that would be better. I'm just trying to get rid of the rusty looking manifold that's on the car so I'm not really looking at increasing performance so the long tubes would be out.

There's no point in buying shorty headers. If your going to spend the money, why not go the little extra and get performance LT headers?

I've got a pair of BBK 1 3/4" shorty headers made for 97-99 C5's. I bought them thinking that the only thing I would have to do to make them fit my 04 was to change the AIR tubes. (Wrong, the collector angle is different also) They would bolt right up to your car. They are ceramic coated and in excellent condition. Not all shorties are created equal. Some are only 1 5/8 tubing which wouldn't let it flow as well as the 1 3/4. Not all are ceramic coated. Probably the best shorties are the B & B shorties, but they cost as much as LT's (about $1000 or more).

Here's some pics. I'd like $235 shipped to the lower 48, paypal prefered

If you're interested send me a Pm and I'll give you my paypal address.

I have pacesetter shorty's on my 98. I got them from Jonathan at JWMOTORING. I bought them simply for the price, and to get rid of the "rusty" look as well.
I was quite surprised after the install. They bolted straight up to the factory exhaust, with no issues, make my Borlas really sound off deeper and louder, and the increases in performance are there.
More torque, better throttle response, faster to every digit on the speedo.
Now, while I agree with the masses, they aren't near as good for performance as long tubes. But, for basically stock cars with just a catback and a tune, it is money well spent.

You can tune a stock car for more performance. So to say you got more power from the headers is quite a stretch.

No Alex, my car was tuned well over a year before the shorty's were installed. The performance gains are real. I don't S T R E T C H facts.
Do some research. Anything that improves exhaust flow, will increase your performance. It's just a matter of how much.
To the OP:
Go with what YOU want. Your car, your money, your choice.

I believe it was Charlie at RPM motors that stated he agreed they gained hp,not nearly as much as LT's though.

Something like 10-12 rwhp. Not a lot,but a gain at any rate

Here's the fitment for shorties:

97-99 "first" air tubes and long flange.

2000 same air tube as 97-99, shorter flange.

2001-04, different air tubes , shorter flange.

If you want shorty headers, B&B makes a good set.

I put BBK shorties on my -98 this winter for the exact the same reasons. They look much better and the sound of my Corsa pace car,s changed,it got louder and meaner.

I don,t know about the performance gains but if you look at the -98 stock manifold it is very different than the later one,s that are like shorties.
