Default c5 thermostat

where is the thermostat located on a 1999 corvette ?

Look below the passenger valve cover on the front of the engine block. The radiator hose is connected to the t-stat housing. The housing & t-stat is one piece.

Not on my 99. The t-stat just sits inside the housing and can be changed without changing the housing.....I have done so.

Yes, you are correct. The 97 + 98 is the housing/t-stat. 99+ is just the t-stat.

and you can get a 160 degree one from autozone for 38 including shipping

Interesting. My 99 it is all one unit. You can get the stat to come out but it's sold as an assembly. Mine was built in Sept of 98 so maybe that's the difference.
