I try to keep my car as collectable as possible, that was my idea 5 years ago when I got it, the only things I have changed were the brakepads and all of the fluids, filters, and except for the oil filter I still have everything boxed and marked for the next owner.
Who knows someone could be looking for that car now or 5 years from now when they do mine will be here more than likely still with 14K miles on it.
02 Zo6 TR, mod int with original everything, window sticker build sheet service/owners manuals showroom brochure, your new 02 is waiting.......

Ok, so let's say you bought your car new at 50k. Factor in all of the expenses of insuring, storing, and upkeep for the past 5 years. How much will you have to sell it for today to recoup your money? How much will you have in it 30 years down the road? We aren't even talking about the money you have missed out on by having it tied up in a car and not invested. When you do sell your, the next owner is prolly gonna be the only one smiling!
You should just buy gold, it can be polished/waxed the same as a vette and isn't as big a risk.
The day I decide to stop driving my Vettes is the day I go buy some for sale signs!

Dont for get that a 03 Z06s are selling for UNDER $28K now, So lest see
that is NEGATIVE $27K in six years
Just get one and drive the heck out of and enjoy the
Even though the C5 Z06 is a great car, it has some significant "collector" car issues. Cars that are the first or last usually get the most interest. The C5 is neither. The current high performance era was started by the C4 ZR-1s (which are also significantly rarer) and the current C6s are significantly more powerful.
If I were to use an analogy, the C4 ZR-1s are like the 57 fuelies while the current C6 ZR1s are like the 67 big blocks - the pinnacle of the era. The C5s are like the 59-61 C1s. Not the most valuable and they took a long time achieve the current value status. The 57s and the C2s will always lead with the 59-61s following. The same will probably be true of the C5s.

Don't worry about the collector status.. just drive and have fun !
One thing to consider.. The inflation rate of the dollar is about to explode. You can thank obomo just 15 years from now when the "paper/number" value goes up on your car/anything. Unfortunately that paper won't be worth as much.
If I had to choose a C5 to collect and keep as an investment, here's what I would look for:
- '02, low miles, very early build number, bone stock. That'll be the car to own (first year for the 405 hp LS6).
- '04 LMB CE with low miles, very early build number, clean everything, bone stock. Eventually, this car will be worth some $$$ (15-20 years from now) because of the better suspension, CF hood, and the unique graphics.
I had an owner of that car (the '04 LMB CE, with 6200 miles) come in looking to trade for a new Z06 a couple of weeks ago...we didn't quite make the deal, because he wanted us to give him $36k trade-in value toward an invoice deal on the new one.

So what do you think I could get for my bone stock Torch red/black 2004 Z06 with 1052 miles? I ordered it and have garaged it since March 2004. All stickers on windows, never wet. Also, it is a no option car. Totally stock.
I've thought about this before too and IMO rare color combos will probable be the big winners. However, picking a 'collector car' of the future is like playing the lotto. My dad is 62 and he tells stories about the cars he picked up in the 60's for a hundred bucks that are collector cars now.

In the 1st page of thise section (currently) you will find a 900 mile '04 red Zo6 with the highly desirable mod red interior (which I think looks perfect only on red cars) for $33.9k and that's at a dealer, with mark up..
And Zo6's past '01 pretty much had all options anyway.... not sure what you're getting at by "no options"
Enjoy your car... having it sit in the wrapper only helps the next owner that laughs as he burns rubber leaving your driveway.

There were a few options that could be ordered on Z06's. Body side mouldings, front license bracket, electro chromatic mirrors, yellow paint. My car has none of those and shows "no options" on the still attached window sticker.
