Looking good man. Wait till I get those tinted lights done.
Thanks! I don't know what I'm going to do with myself once I get the paint done, and install the tinted lights from you. I'll probably just sit and stare at it all day

Nothing wrong with that. I stare at my work all the time when I'm bored.
Where did you get the SEM dye? I assume you spec'd the color and they mixed it up for you?
Did you use the dye on the speaker grills a well?
chris
I bought the dye online. Cobalt Red is actually a color Sem Products carries, color #5821. Only comes in the Sure-Coat dye version. I used preval sprayers to apply it. I tried using the dye on the speaker grilles, but it needed so many coats it started filling the holes. I stripped the paint from the grilles, and bought a can of Cobalt Red exterior paint made by Dupont I bought at Auto Zone. Newer Impalas(and maybe others) have an exterior paint color called Cobalt Red, matched great.

You're correct about that!! I really don't want to wait The body guy I'm taking it to already has experience with the TS style front bumper I installed, and does great work. He comes highly recommended. Also, I've already experienced how difficult it is the match the Pewter metallic. Good things come to those who wait, right?

Does SEM Products carry other GM/Corvette Colors such as Torch Red? I am thinking about a similar red trim treatment and would like to do the lower door panels.
If you did it over again, what would you do differently? You mentioned the white dye application earlier and the speaker grill paint. Anything else?

I believe they do have Torch Red. I believe Torch Red is available in their Color Coat line which comes in aerosol cans. I feel this would be much easier than the route I had to take. I watched a youtube video where they did a center console straight from black to tan. The Color Coat line went on very well, and only took like 2 coats. The Cobalt Red was only available in the Sure Coat dye line, and was very thin which needed many more coats to cover the black.
I also believe some Corvette vendors like MidAmerica carry Torch Red interior paint in aerosol cans as well. The Color Coat line is a paint & not a dye though. I don't know how different that is, but the paint seems to cover much easier.
If it's ok to post here, their website is semproducts.com
I've really come to like Pewter, I was iffy on it at first but it's grown on me!
It's hard to match up huh?
Ya, I wanted Pewter as I thought it looked classy & mature. I thought I'd never want to change anything, just leave it all stock After I had it a year, I lowered it & put new wheels, now the mod bug has ahold of me & won't let go.
When I bought the car, the dealer had to fix a couple paint chips on the hood. When I got it back, it didn't match. I had to take it back to the body shop. Their painter told me that there's only 3 formulas to match the 18 different shades of Pewter, and that it's real tough to match
