Default ECBM You will not believe this!

For weeks I've been on the forum moaning about my ECBM and the "check ABS and traction" warnings being permanantly on.

Today, my day off, up at 6 to remove the ECBM, removed air bridge, radiator hose etc etc only to come to the conclusion that I'd screw it up.

Off to the dealer to arrange for them to give her a 60,000 km service and pull the ECBM for me.

After appointment made to drop her off next Monday I pull away from the dealer only to see the warning lights out and all back to normal!!
The only thing I did differently was pull away in third insted of top gear.

She has been fine all day. Bloody weird.

My advice to all others with ECBM problems, take her to the dealer for the day, it'll scare the crap out of her

too funny, but so true - many times when I have taken a car to the dealer, the problem disappeared...

Don't worry; if you haven't replaced the EBCM yet, you will, eventually. It happens to all of us. By the way, my DIY procedure for removing it in an 01 and newer C5 can be found here:

Can this be done from under the car? My SC is in the way from the top. Where are the grounds located for the EBCM?

It's a sign that you were about to overpay for service. The dealer is not the place to have your EBCM repaired...

So got the car back yesterday after big service and ESBM on order and paid for ($ 1,500 delivered).

However, I drove it from the dealer, a good hour, drove another 2 hours or so today and the warning lights are still off.

I checked the codes and came up with 1214 H for history!

I'm wondering if, during the service, they unknowingly disturbed some cables and fixed it.

I've paid for the ESBM and will not get my money back so will keep it and see what happens.
