My RPO sticker says my car was ordered with the clear top only.. but when I bought the car a few months ago, it only had a solid top (Fairway Green even!).. so I bought a clear top while my car was shipping here and bolted that on as soon as I got the car home the first time.
The solid top has been sitting on the side of my garage since I first took it off..
I absolutely hate how it looks on the car, but with the weather getting warmer and warmer, I may just have to put it back on. I like the idea of painting it black!
Same here. Mine has both tops (Yellow and Clear) and I stuck the yellow one in the attic as I have no intention of swapping it for the clear. I figure I would save it incase something happened to the clear one.
But the clear one looks great and give a more open feeling

Yep, also why having two are nice. The idea of painting the other one black though.. I like that.. it would look the same from the outside and while that's on the car, I could re-finish my clear one (has a few scratches and such) without hating how my car looks for a few days.
And I totally agree.. I love being able to look up and see the sky. That was my favorite thing about the T-tops in my F-bodies.. I really didn't take them out that often, but I never had the shades in, so I could always look up and see the sky.. while sitting with the A/C on at 74* .. can't do that in a vert Then, when I want to feel more like a vert... take the top out
The paperwork on my '99 coupe said it was ordered with both tops but mine came with just the clear top. Probably just was well. Really like the open feeling - doubt I'd use the colored top if I had it. Just one more thing to store.
When I did my Z06 targa I only purchased a clear top thinking I'd like the more open feeling. I found the clear top to be hot in the summer and it makes the interior noisier. I've found that I prefer the solid top for normal driving and if I want the open feeling well I'll just take the top out.
I figure that I will mention that I am looking for a dirt-cheap glass top to try out. Maybe something that is scratched up badly or even cracked. As long as it latches down and doesn't leak. I want to try one out before I spend real money on a good one and possibly not like seing in the sun all the time.
I tried my Navy Blue Metallic top for the first time in the 4 months I've had my car the other day, after one day, I have vowed to never have it on the car again. Felt like I was holed up in a cave like Saddam Hussein.
As my car is so dark, I could hardly notice the difference anyway.
Bought my car in January so haven't done summer in it yet. Luckily just had the AC serviced so it is ready to go. Do remember my '97 Camaro, with the glass t-tops, got a little warm in the summer. Maybe the colored top would come in handy then, after all.

an NBM top huh? If you don't like it, any interest in parting with it?
I have two tops, mine had the clear when I bought it. I purchased a MY top after a few sunday rides when it was to warm inside. So much cooler with solid top and window tinting. Solid top to stay!
ksvette74, I have thought and think about selling the top, however, I think that when I can move into a C6 and I go to sell the C5, it will help a bit to have both tops, however, if I do decide to sell, I'll definitely keep you in mind.
