Weird noises and activity when open the door......
When we open the driver's door on the 2001 there is a delay with the dash lights coming on, and then a loud buzzing starts in the passenger floorboard. Then the dashlights come on, and the hoodlight dims. If you try to lock the doors, then the dash lights flash, but the doors do not lock.

This is a great thread. Check post #356. Everyone should bookmark this thread for any electrical problems. Did you run the codes yet??? Run them and post them. Bill
Here's what I've got so far...
1) Battery voltage is 11.8 volts, but the car has sat for about 3.5 to 4 weeks.
2) Found the relay(#37 Monitored LD) in the footwell that was vibrating and making noise. Changed it out with one in my '99 and the noise went away briefly. I then noticed a slight humming every time the security light blinked, and eventually very loud buzz every time it blinks. Now it is back to a constant sound.
I put the relay back into the '99 and no concerns.
Hmmm, baffled. I checked a couple of the grounds and they were not corroded at all.
Your battery is dead. All those symptoms are normal when the battery dies
With the engine on, the battery should show between 13V and 14.5V. A fully charged battery measures approximately 12.66 V and a fully discharged battery measures about 11.86 V. Measure these at the battery terminal with a multi meter.
Recharge it overnight if it's a lead acid, although, if its an AGM battery it's probably DOA. If that fails change it out and you'll be fine.
If you regularly leave the car for a month you need a battery tender. This car has a drain even when its dormant.
It has a red top Optima, and that thing always seems to run down after a couple weeks, but it's never acted up like that when it was low. I have a yellow top in mine, and it seems like you couldn't kill it if you wanted to. I had checked all the fuses, so my next move is put that yellow top in and see what happens. Thanks for the tip. Man, what a finicky car......
Hmmm, put my yellow top in her car, and all seems well. Got a new yellow top ordered for her car tonight, and we'll switch them around. Never dreamed a car would act like this from a dying battery........
