[Z06] short tube headers

short tube headers
I came a cross an 02 Z06 with short tube headers--not sure what make. First time I've seen these; thought long tubes were the preferred way to generate HP.
Any rational for going with a short tube header?

Mainly for emissions reasons. I run Ceramic Coated B&B shorties because they're 50 state smog legal. Most guys run LT's and then swap on shorties or stock manifolds to pass smog, and then switch back to the LT's. Been there done that on various other cars, and I'm just tired of all the extra work...so I chose to run shorties.

Shorties will look good from the engine compartment view and will provide a minimal hp increase at best. Probably will add some torque though. They're easier to install since you retain the entire stock exhaust system and only replace the exhaust manifolds. No fiddling with O2 sensors and having to be retuned. As mentioned, they're legal in Kalifornia.
