Joe making her adjuster happy should be the fartherist thing from your mind right now.

Roger that. Hes there to make YOU happy. Not vice versa. Sounds like you're going to need suspension, body, and mechanical work. Vettes don't like curbs. Glad you're ok brother. And you're right about trying to match aged black paint. A difficult proposition at best.
On another note- it really erks me- people on their cell phones. Hands free is still pushing the limits of most peoples attention spans IMHO. You don't know how many people on phones I pull up behind making all kinds of noise on the way to a call- and they're in their own little worlds. Sorry you took the hit for this one. Hope your baby bounces back better than ever.

HAHA, yes it was. 1992 White Ford Explorer. What made you think it was white? LOL

Thanks again for all the kind words. My friend was telling me how many adjusters HATE dealing with Corvette owners. Apperantly we're really "picky" about how our car's turn out. I just want my car to be looking and running the way it was.

And that's the point I was making, insurance is paid for this purpose, she was wrong so she has no course but to pay through her insurance company. Don't sweat the adjuster, if it gets complicated, let your insurance company deal with them. It's their fault, not yours. Good luck, and hope your Vette is as good as it was, or better.

Yeah I kind of know how insurance companies are. I work at the parts counter at a Ford dealership, and we get calls for body orders all the time. The insurance would rather use an aftermarket part, but if it's unavailable, theyre forced to use factory direct being they're paying for the car rental everyday.

I'm going in for every estimate I can. The bodywork is at least $3000. Whatever is wrong with the engine...whoknows. Today I noticed my passenger side headlight doesnt open anymore and my signal lights flicker a lot quicker (probably just burned out bulbs) but for both of them to go out at the same time. The wheels also need to be replaced. I'm going to my local Chevrolet dealership to get an estimate on a new set of C6 Z06 wheels.

the front bumper skid plate is most likely bent as well (the things that stick down and hit all the curbs also holds up the radiator). Mine is in the body shop now after I had to replace that part and the front bumper after a friend smacked a high curb. The bumper damage was minimal but that subframe looked like a pretzel. Good luck with the quotes and I am sorry for your loss.

Thanks, I appreciate it! Crap my passenger side window doesn't roll down either. Things just to be stacking up. I'm going to have a list all the way down to the floor by the time the adjuster comes.

Screw the adjustor, take it to a reputable shop that you are confident in, in CA you
make the choice of the repair shop and have them fix everything to your satisfaction if there's a dispute let your insurance company fight it out.

HAHA ok, now to be picky. My Corvette driver's seat already had signs of starting to tear...after the accident it tore a lot more. You think I could claim that? Or are they going to say it's a common problem that's not caused by an accident?

No, I'm not taking anything for granted. I'm just worried that no matter what bodyshop I take it to, the paint probably won't match. Oh well, guess it's something I'm going to have to live with.

Since the accident was her fault, and the accident is probably going to show on a CarFax report...do I get the difference of value before the accident. In other words...before the accident we'll say my car was worth 18k. Now after the accident and mark on the CarFax the car is probably worth 15k...shouldn't I get paid the difference? LOL, you wanted picky...I can be picky. :P

If the adjuster calls it a total loss, which is kind of likely with all that damage, they will name the value of your car before the crash and write you out a check the thing you have to remember is that they include a purchase contract thingy of your car so they keep it if you dont tell them you want it. the total amount that they tell you at first includes like a thousand or two that they say is for ownership of the salvaged car thats how they end up at autions.

If i were you i would just demand the most prestiges shop around, one that has a tv crew from discover folowing em and everything lol. but yea find like the really expensive shop where they wont cut any corners and do the best even if you have to drive a while to get to it

Sorry to hear about your accident but glad you are okay. I hate to stereotype, but I'm gonna because it has been my experience that some of the worst drives out there are driving SUV's. They tend to have much larger blindspots, are bigger, higher off the road (to protect the idiots that normally drive them for their next accident they will have)
Rant off.. moving on..

Yea, that is the problem with these cars, there are so many electrical components and computers , that one good whack makes all kinds of things happen.

other than alignment, frame alignment..I would for sure check the radiator and oil pan. If you drove off a curb, god only knows what else got damaged. It should be pretty easy to tell what is leaking just take a peek underneath. Sounds like you also need wheels, bodywork obviously.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Wouldn't sign any releases till she drives like it was before the accident..Hope no one seriously injured?

They can't make you sign a release and if you get your car back and it doesn't feel exactly how it use to then you just take it back to the same shop.

I kno when my truck got hit the shops work was guaranteed for life I sent it back a year later because the alignment would go bad unusually quick and I even got em to replace da speaker on the door that got hit because it was popped so yea be as picky as u possibly can. If the passenger seat looks more worn then the other then tell em, they jus mite add it to the list of work.
