I agree with it being to low to do any good
I took my BSM off the 2nd week i owned the car along with the wagon wheels, it looks much better IMO on my torch red 99 hardtop only took about 1.5 hrs. Friends say it looks like a different car without the bsm and with the thinspokes on it
Personally, I like them, but depending on the car looks good either way. However, I disagree with the idea that they don't offer protection. Six years of no dings on the body, but I have got ding on the moldings instead. They have served a purpose, in addition to my liking the look.
They weren't part of the original design. They are an add-on that the GM marketeers thought they could get an extra $100.00 for the addition of $2.00 in plastic.
