It really comes down to two things.
Which do you think looks better?
Do you prefer the "softer" driving experience of the C6 or the more "raw", race-car like driving experience of the C5 Z06.
I love the rawness of the Z06. Mine is just a weekend car, though, and if I was daily driving it I might prefer the C6 since it rides a little better and is a little quieter inside.

but if u decided on a z06, id say 02-04, why pick 385 when u can have 405 plus the badges!! or just step it up to a c6 z06, u can find used for great deals

I had an 02 Z06 that I dearly loved.....when the C6 debuted I thought I had to have one....long story short I went through 4 C6 coupes(modded to different degrees) looking for the thrill I got each & every time I drove the C5 Z06.....never got it until I picked up a C6 Z06,so my votes for the C5 Z06 unless you can swing a C6 Z06. Good luck in your decision

How many times do I have to tell you 405hp guys that the 2001 will beat a 405 any day any time. 
DO NOT get sucked in to the 405 crap, it's so bogus.

Boy this sounds familiar. I had a 99 C5 6 sp several years ago. I wanted to get a C5 ZO6 but the new C6 was coming out. I thought, OK it's the same power and it's the new model. So I bought a 05 Z51 C6 6sp. I was disappointed in it. Yes, the interior is nice but it's a little numb and too refined for me. Two days ago I picked up a beautiful 03 ZO6 and I'm in love. The only thing that's comparable to the C5 ZO6 is the C6 ZO6. The C5 ZO6 is a more visceral, involved experience. IMHO get the C5 ZO6.
