Wrecked the Vette
Going out for a dinner run. Merging onto the highway all I remember is I was trying to shift to 4th and all of a sudden my rear came around and threw my car into the soft grass nailing the mile marker signs, about 4ft from nailing a light pole. I guess I might of missed 4th and went into 2nd but hoping my insurance covers this on my 98. I am thinking the damage is more than what my car is worth. Does this mean they will total it? I am just glad myself and the passenger are walking.

Yes, if the cost to repair is greater than the value they will total it. Good luck with the insurance company.

No personal injuries good news, damage over value will definitely be a total loss. Sorry to hear of your misfortune.

Crazy thing was I was going 70 merging which is the speed limit and shifting into 4th, I had to miss 4th and go into 2nd..... bummed out for the rest of the night until she is fixed. This sucks.

Glad everyone is OK! Hope the insurance thing works out! Losing a vette to the "value" equation sucks and is something I fear with my 9 year old!

It's amazing how quick things can go wrong and that you aren't even sure what happened.
Could have been a lot worse....like you said, it's good to be walking.

on a side note .. my insurance company spent 18k repairing mine last year when i was run off the road and slammed into a tree.
est. value was 28k at that point.
these cars are safe - i don't care who says what. I lived when I shouldn't have. says ALOT.

can't live with em', can't live without em. Good luck man. If it is a total loss, just go get another one.
The car lots are loaded. Check out Carmax. I got my second Vette there, a sweet 2002 Z06 with only 25K on it.
This, of course, was after I totalled my 2000 vert.
It'll all work out.

You right everything will work out just bums me out but I have already been looking in the for sale section
. I can't see my insurance fixing my 98 Vette due to mileage and how much she is worth. I KBB my car and it only came to 9.5k, looking @ the damage they will have to replace front bumper, hood, some suspension and most likely paint my whole car again or at least the whole passenger side and if they do that the paint won't match due to she being 11 yrs old......... awwwwwwwwwwwwwww top 3 worse nights. But my wife was happy I was alive

Are you sure you didn't have an active handling issue which cause 1 wheel lock up. This would not involve human shifting but mechanical failure. Do a search in the tech section for this problem.
