I just emptied the trans fluid and put on a new transmission gasket. I just did the drain instead of the flush. I have no idea how much fluid I lost. Has anyone just drained? How much fluid did you have to put back in?

Manual tranny takes about 3.75 quarts. Diff takes about 1.75 quarts.
A4 tranny takes about 11 quarts for a flush and about 5 quarts if you just drain and refill.
Hi There:
I,am looking in my maintenance log book. I bought 4 qts. did the drain & refill on my 6spd. It took about 3.5 qts. of gm 88861800. When you do this be smart & buy the transfer pump. You can use the screw on to the quart bottle plastic tube, but it will be a big mess as well as pita.Make sure your car is level & fill until it runs out of the fill hole.

When you fill the automatic tranny make CERTAIN you do it with the engine running and the tranny in Park...If you dont, you'll be low on fluid once you start the engine.....Add fluid until it runs out, then replace the plug...be sure you change the filter also....
Hi There:
Good info NNIAL8R! I,ll keep that in mind should I do a a/t change. No dipstick on the automatic is that correct?
Have a good weekend.

Correct...NO dipstick...The C5 auto tranny uses the SAME plug to drain AND fill the tranny....Drain it with the engine off, fill it with the engine running....I always recommend changing the filter though, which requires dropping the pan...Anytime I service a tranny I also service the differential..It's the cheapest insurance you can buy!!
