This ever happen to anyone? I had a situation a week ago where the key would not go into the ignition. Happened again this week. Each time I was able to use a small screw driver to wiggle a tumbler(?) out of the way allowing me to insert the key.
I suppose I'm going to have to replace the switch. When I do so, I guess must I also replace the door lock in order to be able to use just one key. Do you think a locksmith type might be able to repair it?
What else is involved? Must the key be programmed to work with the new switch? What about the fob? Thanks for any suggestions/help.
I've used the electronic contact cleaning solution you can buy at places like Radio Shack. It evaporates and does not leave an oily film like WD-40 will. Do you have a lot of 'STUFF' hanging on your key chain?? The weight of that STUFF can easily cause undue pressure and wear on both the key and switch internals. If you have a lot of other STUFF on the key chain, loose it........ Vette Key and FOB should be all you need.
