I went through something similar last year. My insurance covered everything under my comprehensive coverage and I have no deductible on that coverage.
In my case, I believe the only reason I didn't have to replace the engine is because I have forged internals. But as you can see from my signature, I have a supercharger and many other aftermarket parts. It made no difference in my insurance coverage. Only real damage was that the starter casing cracked from trying to restart the car.
Total bill for everything was around $1K with towing, taking the intake system apart and plugs out to drain the water, replacing the starter (which required extra work because of the LT headers).
Keep us informed. Maybe it won't be that bad for you.
I wouldn't even mention anything about the intake unless it comes up and then only that it was on the car when you bought it...no point in making this anymore complicated than it will already be.
Has anyone changed the oil and pulled the plugs and THEN see if the motor will turn over? If it still won't budge, would then see if can turn over manually to rule out a starter problem and not a locked up motor. Not very expensive to try and maybe results in some good news. That's my 2 cents worth.

I just missed the call from the dealer about what they found. I am trying to reach them now.
This happens in neighborhoods around houston where water is up to front doors but not in houses. If a truck drives by and shoves water into the houses, he/she can be ticketed/fined.
I would think similar for your situation. The truck should have been going slower.
This is what I have been told. Dealer states engine is still seized up after pulling plugs. Also stated they found two bent rods along with more than likely lower crank damage. According to the dealer the insurance company will not pay for a new engine because it is over 7 years old. They would only pay for a rebuilt engine. Dealer told me he was able to locate a used 02 engine with 6.000 miles on it that was cheaper than the rebuild ones. Here is whee I need advice. Can the insurance company do this and am I getting all the facts here. HELP!!!
Ferman. I really need advise on this one. Later this morning I am calling Hartford direct. Can't sleep I am sp pissed off with what I have been told by Ferman regarding my insurance claim. My agent is clueless about any of this. Ferman claims the motor they want to install will have a one year warranty and they claim it did not come out of a wreak with only 6,000 miles on it. I asked them to put this in writing which they said no problem. Ferman also stated, as long as the motor they are replacing, comes out of the same year and model and has less miles on it then the motor it will replace, the insurance company will approve the installation. Interesting to know what kind of miles are they, drag strip, track, etc., etc?
I would be talking to my insurance company directly.I have spent over 30 years in the auto repair business and have never heard of such a thing, but maybe the insurance co is trying to save a few bucks.I would think a crate engine with a warranty would be the best way for you to go if that is true, simply pony up the difference in price.
Hartford and reading through it on my comprehensive coverage basically only states I must pay the deductible. Pretty vague.
Please continue to keep us informed and I hope this turns out well. Sadly, this sounds like a case where the insurance company looks for any loophole they can find in attempts to avoid a payment.
