Don't know about the laws in Ga.
Try talking nicely to the issuing officer before the hearing and maybe he will work with you. Or, you can explain to the Judge that it was you didn't realize you were going that fast because you were busy talking on your cell phone about how wellthe New perfomance mods were working!
Good Luck in court!

This is a good way to keep a ticket off your record if the state allows it. Well worth checking into this - call the issuing department and ask if this is available. You may be able to take the course at your location and then send them the documentation.
In Maryland, what I do is go to court, see if the officer is there, if not wait to be called and plead not guilty. If the officer is there, I will watch and see what the judge is like, if he's handing out PBJs (probation before judgment) or Traffic school I will go up when called, if the judge is not giving any breaks- out the door I go. I will go back to the courthouse within the next couple of weeks, pay the ticket and request a new court date (Maryland will give you a couple of weeks before they put a warrant out on you). You will receive a new court date, out of my last 2 tickets the officer did not show up (with the new court date the cop may only have 2 or 3 cases and not bother showing up), the second ticket it had been like 9 months since the ticket was issued, he did not have the info needed on me and the case was dismissed (probably because it was 9 months since he gave me the ticket). Even convicted, I would have prevented the insurance company from knowing for close to a year.
Merely lowering it below 85 does not seem like it would avoid getting reported to your insurance co. If they changed it to a failure to keep right or running a stop sign maybe you'd be better off but speeding is still speeding and I'd bet the ins co will be notified.

Good luck and I would do as some others have said about going to court.
