I have Michelin run flats. They have less than ten thousand miles on them. One of the rear tires has had two flats already (nails). I have two concerns:
1. Depending on how well the repairs were done, how well will this one tire hold up on an extended drive out west?
2. Can I just replace the one rear tire without having to replace the others?
You should compare the tread depth on the good tire to a new tire. If they are within a couple of 32's you may be able to get away with replacing just one tire. You would also have to determine in the same tire compound is still made or available as Michilen recently released a new tire.
That said if it were me I would replace both tires on the same axle and sell the good tire on the forum.
Thanks guys. I kinda figured that I should probably replace both rear tires. The idea that one would have to replace all four tires just because one was suspect, seemed to me rather extreme. Since I don't drive competitively, I believe that the difference in compounds, etc. will not be overly important between the front and rear tires. But that difference would most definitely be a concern between the two rear tires.
Please, if anyone else has knowledge in this area, please chime in.
