I got better than 35 MPG on the highway to Niagara Falls yesterday. This was from Windsor, Ontario. The first measurement (before I mistakenly hit RESET was 35.3 mpg ,between Puce, (100 miles) and Brantford. The second measurement was above 36 mpg, but my wife thinks that we we going downhill. I'll give the report on my way back.
I just changed my oil. That's all. This is at least 1 mpg higher than last year. I'm changing the air filter before I go for emissions and I notify you all if it goes up even higher.
I understand that this computer is only an estimate, but I have more than a 1/2 tank of gas still left.
OH ya. This was at 63 mph or 100 km per hour. My cruise is always on.
300 miles, 4.5 hours. 65-70mph. Over the course of the 300 mile trip the elevation rose and fell but it was a net drop of about 700ft. This wasn't interstate though, it was 4 lane highway, mostly 55-60 limits but it goes through towns with 45's and 35's plus a bunch of stoplights mixed in. but no A/C used, headlights off and of course non-ethanol fuel and that was the result.
absolutely amazing.

I always calculate mine manually also. The computer usually reads about 3-4 MPG on the high side for me. I did get 31 MPG manually calculated when I bought the car. I usually get around 28 though with my driving habits on trips.
I'd still be willing to bet you got around 32 MPG manually calculated though

but mine only gets 24 or so manually calculated. I can't keep my foot off the go pedal...
I am more surprised you could keep your speed down to 63 mph!
I like to leave it in cruise for economy. I'm not too popular when I'm passing at 63 mph on the highway and someone is travelling 75-80 in the passing lane and comes up behind me. I get over to the right as soon as possible though.
35 mpg with stock gearing should be pretty easy with the C5. If my car wasn't so insanely modified, I'd do a hypermiler trek with it to see what the best mpg would be.
I got 29.87 mpg with my 4.3 ltr S10 last summer, and that was with a slushbox and a loaded bed. I would think the vette could reach 38 to 40 mpg without too much trouble.
