Default Wheel Width Advice

I'm getting conflicting info from several vendors so throwing this out to the forum for advice.

My C5 vert has stock tire sizes 245/45/17 & 275/40/18. There new so I'm not looking at changing out tires anytime soon. I've heard optimum front wheel width is 8.5, 9 is okay, anything wider will distort the shape of the tire. For the rears I'm hearing 9.5 optimum, 10 okay, and 10.5 will distort.

Your thoughts???

Although sell your tires and go with 9.5 fronts and 10.5 rears. This is what came on a C5 Z06 and it really give the car a batter stance.

Im running 19x10 front and 19x11.5 rear no issues at all, 245 tires are optimum for 8 inch rims 8.5 to a 9 is ok also. 275 is optimum for 9.5 but can go up to 11

IMO, you are right on with your thoughts on the wheel widths, especially if you don't want to get new tires.
