I"m looking for a cover for occasional outside use until I can make room in the garage for the C5. The C3 is in there now and under a Wolf 4-layer cover and will be moved over to make room for the C5. I'd like to spend less than $150 if possible and plan to use it inside too. Any one using "The Wall" from Ecklers or a MaxTech from Zip? Those are the two I've looked at so far. Looking for recommendations from experience. Thanks!
I use the Wolfe cover but only cover it out doors maybe three times a year so I really don't know how well it does in the rain.Buckwheat stays in the garage year round ,if I am cleaning up in the garage or working creating a lot of dust then I put it on Buckwheat. No dust gets through, very soft flannel liner.
My car sits out under full sun about 3 days a week and this cover does an excellent job of protecting it. It is not super-soft like cotton, but it won't scratch the paint as long as you wash it occasionally. Light rain won't penetrate but really, any cover that breathes will allow heavy rain to pass through it, eventually. Strong winds have no chance of blowing this cover off, since it fits very tightly.
From: Fredrikstad, Norway - sorry if my english isnt to good...
Hi!
Actually in summertime i keep my car outside and in a heated garage during winter. When it`s outside i use two covers, one stormproof two tone cover from Coverking ordered from CCA (thanks Chip!) And a cheap one i bought here in Norway. The cheap one i use to take care of the worst bird droppings and so on, works great
7 or 8 years ago I used to use the Wolfe 3 layer when it was the state of the art. It kept the sun off and did not allow moisture to build up underneath it. However, if there was a heavy downpour some water would get through it. It didn't hurt anything but every once in a while I would find puddles on the car after a heavy rain.
If you are going to store it outside for a long duration make sure you use a cable to fasten the cover to the car. The Wolfe covers have grommets in them so you can pass a cable under the car and keep the cover from blowing off or being stolen.
i just received "The Wall" cover from Eckler's for my C5 and seems like a real good cover and if i remember right, it was $99.99 plus shipping...i've got a Wolfe cover on the C4 and it's held up real well for about 3 years now....
For my Z16, I chose a high tech fabric model called "Superweave". It comes in several colors, is very lightweight, drys in minutes, folds down small enough to fit in the small cubby hole, can be used indoors/outdoors and can be washed/dryed at home instead of a laundrymat. It has a four year warranty. I use it mainly for dust control since my car can be stored indoors.
I use a Wolf car cover made out of the Noah Material. I had a Stormproof in Red/Black that turned Pink/Grey in under a year sitting outside on a daily basis, not too mention the material would get stiff in the cold Winter months.

I found some decent ones from empire. This cover was a replacement cover for a custom cover that cost three times as much and started leaking water and collecting dust under the cover in less than a year. My Empire cover is 4 months old, has survived numerous strong thunderstorms and seering Texas sun, and so far is exceeding my expectations. I have 3 cars under cover, soon the other two will be covered by Empire.
I use one I order from the Corvette Garage. I normally only use it indoors, but it is designed for outdoor use. It is made of 150 Denier woven polyester and coated with aluminized polyurethane. It is a real snug fit and is soft on the inside. It also comes with two straps to add additional under the car holding.

Stumbled unto Empire Covers while trying to find cover for my C3. While there discovered they also sell custom floor mats (Lloyd Mats). Big mistake. The mats ordered for my '09 Malibu appeared to have been cut by a blind man(driver side at least) The "dead man": pedal spot took up half the mat. Tried to return the mats and they advised in one and only email that is the way they are cut. Wouldn't not answer any more emails. If you order from them, better hope your cover or mats fit. Their return policy is not worth the gamble. Buyer beware.
I got the Stormproof from Southern Car Parts on sale!! Water REALLY beads up and runs off!! In an actual storm,,it will bead up and blow off like crazy!!
For short term use you envision, $150 and more might be overkill. Consider car cover by Budge, Size "Group #3," fits like a glove for occasional outdoor use. Single layer water-proof cloth, gray color, no mirror pockets, has tie-down loops, elastic front & rear, will not scratch paint, and only $29.95 retail (often on sale) at most Checker/Shucks/Kragen stores or military BX/PX.
