Default Front Rail Savers - Single or Double Wheels

Guys, Which is the better option, front rail savers the single wheel option or the double wheel option?
I would have thought the double wheel, the load would be distributed over two wheels with no torsional twist to the rail?

Your comments thoughts please.

Thanks, Tim

I'd say you're spot on

I've had the single wheel fitted for years and clipped it a few times. Its worked as advertised.

I bought the single wheel version from West Coast Corvette, and had a friend with a muffler shop weld the bracket to the crash bar. Worked fine.

The idea of spreading the load is good, but only works if you're pretty much straight on as you go up or down a driveway. I thought about the two-wheel version for the current car, but realized that it would still load one side of one bar when I hit the driveway at a 45* angle (to avoid dragging the bottom of the front fascia).

So I'm pretty well convinced it doesn't make a load of difference. I would suggest welding the brackets to the crash bars, though. The wheel sets I bought said just drill and bolt, but that bracket makes me feel better, being welded all around. I just hit it with a little chassis black paint after Lee welded it it, and it's good to go.

Cheers
Tim

I thought that single wheels were better for going straight up and down a driveway and dual wheels were better for angled approaches.

the single version from A&A have worked well for me. I think you can't go wrong with either.

I would go with the double. I have the singles that are bolted and then welded as well... they have both bent slightly upward.

I've had the single wheel and my front end scrapes everytime I back out of my driveway, after years the single wheels are still in perfect condition. But if you have a thing for lots of hardware. . . Hay so long as your happy. That's all that matters.
