Last week a rattle began coming from either the dash or the steering column. It only happens on bumpy roads. It sounds like marbles or plastic items hitting together. Needless to say, it is VERY annoying. Any idea what is causing this?
I had a similiar problem. I thought the rattle was coming from the dash. I read somewhere on this forum to check the hood stops. I did and raised the stops a little, rattle is gone. Give it a try.

It was a rattle with an occasional thump. It was louder when the car was first started mostly in colder temps. Once I drove it a couple miles and the car warmed up it would go away. Hope this helps because I know rattles aggravate me.

Thanks.
My clamshell rattles slightly....someday I'll split it and put some foam tape on each side for a rattle free clamshell mod
I just finally fixed this problem after taking the whole dash apart and lubing and padding everything it didnt fix it. Turns out the noise was actually coming from the latch for the targa top. I lubed that up and adjusted it slightly lower problem solved!!!

this was exactly what I found - swore there was a noise in the dash - but some white lith/ grease on the hatch latches and some in the cavity where the locating pins ride fixed it completely

are you talking about the targa top latches as well?
I had a rattle problem with the screws at the bottom of the bolster. They were not screwed with the nuts or whatever is down there. I made sure to screw them into properly and the rattle noise was gone.
I have a rattle as well. My dash was taken out for the stereo install and is still there. The funny part is when I turn the tunes up.....rattle is gone! lol.
