Default Front Black Outs

Hello all. Purchased a set of front signal black outs for the car last week. Went to install them and it seems that they are too thick to fit over the signal. What all is everyone using as black outs for the front signals? Anyone use paint or window tint?

How are you trying to install them? They wont go in just like snapping them in there, you have to remove about 14 screws from the bottom, and come up underneath the light, remove the screw on it on the outer side, and this will let you pull the stock lights back a bit to drop the blackout in place.

If that doesn't make any sense, let me know and I can try and scan some pictures from my install document.

I got underneath it yesterday. Loosened one screw on the left which gave some movement with the lens. Maybe I need to loosen the other side as well and drop it in from under the car? Does that make sense??

The turn signals are spring mounted and can be pushed in enough to install the blackouts over them without having to remove them (which is a huge pain in the ****)
If you push gently up near the top of the lense, you can carefully wriggle the cover in place. It make take a few minutes, but do a little at a time and they will snap in.
I did a search on here and found that most people installed them this way and went for it and got it done in 10 mins

How thick are the ones that you installed? These just seem to be thicker than blackouts I've purchased in the past. Def thicker than the GTS ones I had on my Camaro.

We got ours from Vetteshop and I would say they are slightly smaller than 1/4 inch.. So they are pretty thick.

Dropping it in from under the car is what I meant in a way, your pushing it up through the bottom of the car, but dropping it in from the top of the light... Once that one screw is out, you should have no problem pushing the top of the lens and it will fall back and let you put the blackout in place.

I will give that a shot. Seeing as yours are roughly 1/4" thick makes me feel better. These just looked thick compared to what I've seen in other black outs. I'll give it a shot tomorrow and report back! Thanks for the help!

I just installed mine in the same manner. From the front. It takes some patients but they will go. Purchased a complete set from G5 Creations.

Thats what I started with, but there was no way they were going in from the front. They dont bend enough to slide them up and in and the turn signal didnt give way enough on the sides. Those look great though

Mine were the same thickness. If you push in the light wthe the blackout, and put the smaller end in first you can wiggle it around and it will slide in place. The blackouts don't bend, but it still works

Allthough ours are 1/8" thick.Any thicker and I am sure it would be difficult to install without removing the lense.

Just loosen ,don't take them out .They will slip right in,be careful not to scratch them.

I just loosened the bolt on the front lamp and did my best "wiggle" job and eventually I got it far enough in that both sides fit. Didnt need to take out the lamp, thank god. Was more worried about scratching up the bumper than the black outs

I bet removing the screens is an interesting look. You dont happen to have your passenger screen still do you?

I did a quick look around the net and couldn't find anything about it being illegal. I would think that as long as the light can shine through when on, there should be no legal problems with using them.
