For a point of reference,,the first time I took this one to the track,,I bounced off the rev limiter in the first three gears,,5 passes later I clocked a 13.08/110.24 on a stock motor. Drove home and 14,000mi/1 year later purrs like a kitten,,bites like a tiger!!

Personally, I don't even think about it. I just drive it. Sometimes more aggressive then others. Like when trying to keep up with a friend in his C5Z or another in his C6Z.. or just trying to get around traffic so I can cruise out in the open. Mine is not a track car and I don't take it to red line but I do have a liberal use of the right most pedal every now and again... so I don't think I am going to hurt it driving in daily conditions.

These cars are a lot of fun driving easy.. They are a lot more fun when driving hard.

best advice so far.

WOT just cleans some of that carbon build up out...and I know you guys have carbon build up....cause you're posting about how often you can go WOT on a car that's designed to be @ WOT....

Repeated abuse does wear on the engine and driveline components, but a nice romp every now and then should be just fine.

I know I can hardly help it, romping on it, that is. I am almost glad when someone doesn't move out of the passing lane as here in MA, we can pass on the left, just so I can get on it and fly-by on the right lane.

I'll not worry since I only have some 43,500 miles on the car now.

IMO it's not WOT or idle that causes the wear, most of the wear is going TO and FROM wide open and it's not all on the engine. The smoother you are with the clutch the longer the engine and other connected items will last.

Standard disclaimer, opinion, I could be wrong, YMMV etc etc.

Truth, if you are so concerned that you feel you need to ask for verification then you might want to consider how you feel about always punching it.

I've a pretty much stock LS1/A4 and take the best care of it. I'll be able to "Hoon-it-Out" for a while I'm sure.

I like to punch it on those long freeway on-ramps. I hit it so hard that tears stream out of the washer ducts and roll up the windshield.

122k miles on the clock, 15k of those miles with a supercharger.

She still sees WOT everyday I drive her and planning a road trip this fall to the east coast and back. These engines are stout!

and mine is seldom UNDER 3,000 rpms . Idle and rolling to the grid, and coming off the track is about it.

I have 25,000 miles of 3000 to 6600 rpm.

I do take my heads off each winter check the valves and toss the springs. replace with new springs. use comp 918s

piston slap is in just about all SBC and LSx engines.

a dry sump or accu-sump takes care of that.

or just let the engine warm up for a min or two before you drive off and you will be fine.

the LS6 was tested at 7,000 RPMS for 100 straight hours with no side effects.
