Have you checked the codes via the DIC?
If you are getting "NO COMM" codes it's a simple fix.
If you are getting "NO COMM" codes it's often a short within the wire harness leading from the car frame through the accordian tube to the door. There is a clear tube covering a bare wire that is often the cause. Put some electrical tape over the exposed bare wire and your code should go away and your windows & lock should operate.

I doubt that you have two bad modules. What codes are you getting ?
The "diagnostic display" mode is entered with the following procedure:
1. Turn on the ignition but don't start the engine.
2. Press the "reset" button to turn off any warning messages
3. Press and hold "options" and
4. While holding "options", press "fuel" four times within a 10-second period.
