I hear ya...one trick I have learned is to post up spectacular pictures of everything I sell. It's proof you actually HAVE the item, eliminates tons of back and forth on the item's condition. Also, always pay at least half the paypal fees...it doesn't take a rocket scientist to realize BOTH parties benefit from the PP process....I am always floored when a seller states "plus 3% Paypal fees"! Like he isn't deriving anything from instant payment? I could go on and on, but you can avoid getting scammed or wasting your time by thinking outside the box a little.
Pics really help and an accurate description of products being sold. I have been trying to buy a cam for the longest now. When I first started looking I had an ideal what I needed, but due to my lack of knowledge and/or poor description of cam(product) I had to back out. I apologized to seller, but sometimes a small cam to some isnt so small to others.
This has happened to me! I was GIVING a set of stainless exhaust tips away. Just asking for shipping cost, got a quote from the Post Office, PM'ed the individual, never hear a thing back. Shipping was only like $4 or something.
I think he means that if you work in sales for a living, you get a lot of this back and forth all the time and no sale is complete until the contract is signed. "Coffee is for Closers!"
I am in sales and I'm at the top of my profession and I rarely see the level of cheapness that I see on the buy/sell boards here. Like I said before, if a guy says he wants a part then I would make him put a non refundable deposit on Pay Pal. I wouldn't care if he had to pay for a funeral and needed the money back. A deposit IS a contract. If the person did not have Pay Pal then I would give him five days to get payment to me and at the same time I would keep the part up for sale. The cheapskates aren't as big of a problem as the as***les that make a committment and then never send payment and completely blow off the seller. This forum is a community and making a promise to buy and then blowing off a member is not what I want to see here. In fact I think a buyer who does that should have their rights suspended here.

Great stuff from someone who should know. What amazes me more is the lack of input some people put in when they want to sell something. It's basically marketing 101. How many times have you seen an ad with a car for sale with no pics? A smart seller does not put the burden on potential buyers to dig/beg for more info....it's common sense. I once posted how bad the C6 ads were with no pics at all in the cars for sale section; As an example of how it should be done I included an ad that was fabulous from a car seller in Florida with gorgeous pics in a tropical setting...the car sold within 5 days...the thread I started was deleted...go figure....I guess the C6 guys are thin-skinned....but I digress

On the flip side of that you have guys with solid for sale posts and guys that continually ask for more pictures. You would think the guys asking for more pictures are interseted but to the contrary. They just collect pictures of Corvettes or like the one posted for sale and want to see more pictures. That is the bad side of selling anything. The loiterers.
Also agee with this statment . keeping a car like this running and looking good is not cheap it's no honda
It's Better than a Honda. Upkeep(appearence) is about the same with any car.
As far as mechanical. I've only had two problems with my wifes 98. The windshield wiper motor went nuts, and the passenger side door speaker is starting to crackle.
Ya wanna Play, Ya gotta Pay!
As far as buying and selling, I've had mostly good expeiences. Knock Wood.

I make sure that I'm VERY patient, calm, and understanding when selling stuff b/c I've had my own problems before and appreciate it when the seller is likewise..

I had a vintage travel trailer listed for sale on a collector's site. I "sold" it to a lady in Canada and made arrangements to deliver it. I spent 4 weeks getting dinked around for the remainder of the purchase price after getting a $500 downpayment. She finally backed out after the fifth week and wanted her money back. I kept it and sold it locally. Cash is king. The down stroke is my payment for putting up with her delays.
