The money question depends on how much you value the lower noise level and the ability to separate the trunk from the interior. I don't know about the foam versions but the solid partitions definitely reduce the tire and exhaust sound.

I just installed the partition, 3 compartment covers, and a Lloyds mat in my 02Z(got a package deal from SouthernCarParts on sale-Thanks Jim!!). Definitely makes a difference. Wife complained about the "sonic boom" from the first time she rode in the car. No more complaints. Anything that's wife approved is a winner in my book.

Does Southern Car Parts make a solid partition? I read above about a foam and a solid partition. I would rather have a solid partition vs a foam partition.

Don't know about the solid partitions, but the foam is nice if you like to remove quickly. I have the foam and it does cut down on noise a little. I suspect neither will make a huge difference in noise level. People who have ridden in my car (who don't know Vettes) think the partition is factory.

Couldn't believe the exhaust and rear road noise, when I first got my Z. One of the first things I did was to make a template for a divider. Got some white 2" thick foam, carpet material, glue and heavy duty velcrose. Divider has never fell or moved in 4-5 years and cut down the noise a ton and a half. Now I'm running BB Bullets , and really appreciate the mod.

Partitions definately help. They cut down the noise from the exhaust and (to a lesser extent) rear tires. The real benefit is on the highway, without it, the drone gets old after a while.

Also, if you are using a partition, think about adding foam on the inside of the trunk lid. I got some peal and stick acoustic foam and did the inlaid areas on the trunk lid and that helped a lot.

Note that the z has no insulation what so ever in the whole back end of the car. For that reason, if you put Dynamat in the rear wells and over the tire humps, that will help a lot too. I added about 8 pounds of dynamat, the partiton and the foam on the inside of the trunk, and the car is very plesant on the highway now. Still plenty of noise on power. but quiet enough to keep the wife happy.

I bought the partition and tray combo from Southern Car Parts. The tray is foam, but the partition is solid. Fit and finish is excellent, and I think it makes the car look like it should have stock. Great product and worth every penny.

Get the partition and tray combo, Not only does it look good, it cuts down on road and exhaust noise, my stereo sounds way better and your A/C will work more efficiently. Plus you have the added benefit of cup holders and storage compartments for cds, cell phones, etc. Great fit and finish and can be removed in like 2 minutes. I love mine

I put the same setup in mine, the quality is very good and the noise reduction is a big help.

A buddy of mine has an 03 Z and got one for his and he has kooks headers/crossovers with stock ti exhaust. He said it definitely helped making a reduction in the noise level.
