I think it's kinda cool. The LEO here have a super charged cobra they use on weekends and at job fairs. Kinda rubs it into the faces of the criminals that they get to play with their toys.
They certainly aren't the first. There have been a few similar to the pic below posted here in the past. I have seen everything from hopped-up Camaros to superbikes used by cops in Gwinnett County, GA and elswhere used by the cops. The HP uses Mustang GT's and a couple other fast cars here in Indiana.
If you are going to be a cop, then that would be the only ride and job I'd want. They probably fight each other over who get the Vette for the day and probably drives it home.
I wonder if they have instructed them on the 'wave.'

You can tell that ^^ one is a police vehicle, from the writing on the door , the one I posted, you can't. For routine traffic stops, or speeding, "marked" vehicles should be used, not unmarked.
We have a crap load of 2001-2002 Camaro Z28 Highway Patrol cars. When we first got them before I knew they were there, one came up on me while I was driving my Trans Am... I immediately dropped down the gears and slowed to 60 waiting to punch it. The Z28 came up on the right of me and stood door to door with me for a few seconds. I was waiting for him to go and he just didn't. He just sat their in the corner of my eye. So I turned to look and saw the top of the CHP badge on the door and then noticed the officer in uniform... SH*T! He was looking at me with total disapproval and I knew I wasn't in trouble, but knew I had to be VERY careful. So I looked back, smiled, nodded my head as if to say "Come'on. Lets race" and he just shook his head at me... Then he bolted... Damn it.
I wish my agency would get a few C5's or C6's and do the same.... Only problem is you still need a Crown Vic for a transport, it's not easy loading a criminal in the hatch... Way cool.
I don't agree with unmarked police cars at all. If it's really about safety, you should be out in the open about who you are.
Unmarked police cars are an obvious indication that it's about money.
This is exactly my feelings too. It's not entrapment, but it's pretty much like a big shiny red button that says "Don't push" with a hidden consequence behind it.
