whats that little L shaped thing that"s in front of the shifter it seems like if you push it down it locks you out of all gears. i just put in a b&m ripper and i removed that L shaped piece is that ok ?
Don't throw it away, it might come in handy in the future. It's sole purpose is to lock the shifter in neutral during R&R to maintain correct adjustment.
There is no place to mount it on the after market shifters, but occasionally it comes in handy if you experience shifting of the new shifter getting difficult, especially after a few miles when things tend to loosen up.
Just put it somewhere where you can find it. You can also use a nail or drift punch to accomplish the same thing.
