I went down to San Antonio this morning. I noticed something strange that has happened once before. My HUD starting "bleeding/glowing" (for lack of a better word) blue (i.e. check gauges et al). It comes and goes for a bit and then just goes away entirely. There is nothing wrong, I've gone over the gauges, oil levels, and engine, everything *seems* fine. It has happened once or twice before now. It never takes over the normal display entirely, just kind of glows blue here and there. I thought it was happening once before because of a drop/difference in temperature (cabin temp). I had the top down for a few hours and then closed her up and chilled out with AC on max for awhile. It happened as soon as I zipped up the vert. This time, it happened when the top was not down at all. About two hours of driving. I was cranking the AC, could that have something to do with this? Has anyone seen this behavior? Any ideas?
I've had some unusual HUD happenings too. It took a while before I figured out mine were light related. Reflections off the projector face would give strange outputs on the windshield. Sometimes it looked like the HUD was displaying every possible reading. I learned to look for it after awhlie. Hope that helps.
I wear polarized glasses when I drive. I can't see any other reflections than the HUD's display. It filters out everything, including the reflection of the bezel. LOL
It does look like it is trying to display every possible reading. That is why, after checking everything by sight, I don't think it is a legitimate warning (not just one thing, but everything at once). It never stays one color or the other, just kind of flashes, glows, bleeds different colors. Happens for a few moments, then gone. I did a search just now and it appears others believe it has to do with lighting/sun et al.
As for my car being happy about no traffic, I wish that were true. It was pretty congested in SA. Nothing is as bad as MoPac at rush hour though.

Try that and see if you're still having issues.
It is a sun or other light source / reflection issue. I have never
tried the polarized sunglasses but it is worth a try. Basically this
is normal nothing to worry about.
Yeah... At first, polarized glasses made it hard to see the speed, but now it's not an issue at all. I got used to it in 2 days. LOL (Then again, I put 500 miles on my car in 2 weeks because I couldn't stop driving it.)

When the sunlight hits the HUD just right, it will cause it to show a lot of different things on the windshield. Perhaps that is what happened today to yours.

Unless you are seeing problems at night too, you do not have a problem.
There's no technical problem here and polarized glasses have no effect on this issue, they just cut out reflected glare.
This is simple light reflection. Like a system on a fighter the HUD has a collumater lens located in the dash. Light is fed from the projector turned through 90 degrees by the lens and projected on the windshield. The designers could have put the projector gun on the dash and projected directly but it would have obstructed your view so they hid it in the dash.
If the sun catches the lens at the correct angle it floods the projector and you see all the symbology at the same time. Nothing to worry about. As you change heading the HUD will revert to normal. It's time related as well as heading. The sun will be at a certain height and position in the sky to hit the right angle so you could get it in one direction in the morning but catch it on the way home as the sun moves across the sky.
