Default Removing A/C Belt...Need help please

ok, so this is embarrasing, but I'd rather just save time and ask. How do you remove the A/C belt? I'm having that dreaded belt squeek problem, and am currently playing out the process of elimination. Removed the serpentine belt, and the squeek is still loud as ever. Now its time to take off the a/c belt, and I just cant find the bolt/nut to turn, to loosen it. Is it on the A/C tensioner? I have also read that the spot you loosen it is under the power steering fluid resevoir, but I dont see that. Without ragging on me too bad, can anybody help me out?

There is a tensioner pulley near the a/c compressor. It really helps to have a 15mm ratchet wrench for that one.

The 15mm nut is on the ac belt tensioner. It is behind the two aluminum lines that go to the ac condenser on the passenger side. release the tension off of the belt then slide the belt from the idler pulley. Some think its easier to do from the bottom but its really about the same.

It may be the Tensioner that is squeaking if you find that it's not the belts, spray a little lube from a can on each tensioner if it quiets down then there is the problem.

You have to turn the nut in the center of the tensioner, which will turn the whole tensioner to relieve the pressure. If you haven't already done it, check the tensioners like Bucwheat said. To do this, spray the belts with a quick shot from a water hose. If the stop squeaking it is most likely the belt. How many miles are on your car? This could have something to do with it. I just replaced both tensioners and both belts about a year ago. I went with goodyear gatorback belts.

I have heard that if you replace one tensioner, the other will go bad pretty quick if they were both worn out to begin with.

I think it cost me a little over $100 to do both tensioners and belts on mine.

ok, so I removed the a/c belt now and the squeek is gone. Belt appears to be in good shape, so should I assume its likely a ac tensioner/idler?

I just replaced my a/c tensioner and idler pullys today, Autozone part number 231135, about $18 each, nice aluminum pieces that will probably outlive me, best of luck.
