Front plate mounting?
Well it happened Sunday. I got pulled over becuase of not having a front plate on my 03 Z. Got read the riot act about how "Vette owners think they are better then everyone else."
SO my question is what is the best way/best looking way to mount a front plate on a C5.
Please psot picture if you don't mind.

Hate to tell you this,,,but from what I've read those covers are illegal in Illinois. The plate has to be out there in the open.GM and all the catalogs have a filler that blends the bottom and both side in a smooth transition,,and can be painted to match your car. Most of the catalogs offer then already painted for a price!

What is the officer talking about? Vette owners ARE better than everyone else. Clearly, he was not able to buy a vette
Jokes aside, I think we just have to suck it up and take off the cover and let our C5s be ugly

I played around and eventually went for the retractable plate. I got the manual version but I wish I'd paid the extra $100 and got the electric one

All I got was a snide verbal lashing about how everyone in Illinoins knows they have to have a front plate except you Corvette owners. I just smiled and thanked him for the information.
My buddies said the same thing. "he's a cop that wants a Vette"

You need to paint the inside of a clear "plate cover" to get this look. I've been running mine for 3 years with no problems, no tickets even when I got stopped for speeding (no ticket there either
Thanks for the ideas on front plate mounting. DeeGee I followed your lead and went with the Kewl products surround. I think it doesn't look to bad.

A number of vendors sell a painted factory license plate surround - if you have to run a front plate, it does help with the looks.

I see a lot of G35 Infiniti's without front plates, they look nicer that way too.
With that said, I put mine on already.. I'm too much of a chicken :o

What's the big stinking deal about running a front plate? I have to agree with the cop here. You think people will say anything about your front plate??? Doubt you'll ever even notice after a while anyway-just go to Chevy and get the license plate older for the front and be done with it.
Can't wait till they start getting on the bikes for no mufflers too-it's way overdue.

Real Laws, not a stinking BS law to make a couple of extra dollars, like the license plate law discussed in this thread.
Seriously, there is so much going on out there and the law is worried about a license plate. What about the A-hole that doesn't use his turn signals or the soccer mom slicing through traffic in her mini van to get the kids to school or the person on the cell phone to involved in their conversation and driving all over the highway.

IL has lame laws... for example, NO tinting on front side windows are allowed at all. It makes no sense to me... I understand the limits. I personally don't feel people should be allowed to do limo dark either because officers can't see inside, but at least let it be like 50%. You can see perfectly fine and it definitely blocks out a lot of UV.
And yes we also need front plate.
