One thing I'd for sure be doing: calling the authorities and reporting the guy driving around with no insurance. At the very least do what you can to make the one guys life miserable.

Sorry to see the damage to your car. I hope your insurance company is very aggressive with this idiot and goes after him for the cost of the repairs. If not, take it out of his hide.

We got hit last month by an uninsured illegal. The punk tried to run off too. I got my deductable out of him with some polite encouragment - but we still have a claim on our uninsured motorist ins now.
I'm all for letting someone who choses to dirve uninsured spending 30 days in jail- first offense. Even more for knowingly attempting to pass a fraudulent card. You want to stop it being so prevalent- make it unappealing instead of all but condoning it.
I'm sorry that happened brother. Congratulations on your new addition, God bless your new family.

Thanks for all the kind words and advice everyone. The blue beast is at the dealer and hopefully it'll be back on the road sooner than later. I'm planning on spending lunch filling out a couple forms at the local police precinct today, and looking forward to getting out of this damn Kia Rio rental as soon as they get some half way decent cars in at the rental place at my dealership... Geico is still doing great on processing the claim and the adjuster at the dealership was very helpful. I'm sure they'll work things out pretty well, but I really do wish the uninsured guy could get locked in a work camp making minimum wage or less until he has everything paid back.
The wife is pretty understanding about the vettes, so I'll probably be back in one at some point after the baby is born and gets older. A responsible cts-v probably won't be too terrible of substitute if I can find a decent deal on a used one after the vette is back in sell-able shape.
