Default Intake Question

What does it mean when they say a certain used intake doesn't come with "MAF sensor". Do you normally replace sensors when you change an intake?.. I thought sensors usually just get reused, and intakes only come with the intake and the clamps for installation. Hopefully this isn't a stupid question

There are several intakes that relocate/replace the MAF.

Generally you will need a tune if you put a different MAF on the car...

Peace

I understand that. In fact, that's exactly what I'm asking. For example, a Halltech venom moves the MAF near throttle body, but I thought you just plug in your old sensor back there.
Halltech also says they require no tune because you don't get lean codes.

I will get a tune regardless of what kind of intake anyway. The mail order tunes are such good deals right now. I'm just confused about replacing MAF or just moving the stock one.

If you are just moving your OEM MAF, than you are good to go. Nothing more you need to do than move it.

Quite a few tuners will move it from it's OEM location, to get a better read.

I see. So when sellers say "MAF not included" it really means nothing...? I guess what I'm saying is, when do you actually need to replace MAF?

Thanks for the responses by the way

Pretty much means don't call wondering why the MAF was not in the box because it's not included.

Look at it this way. If your intake comes with a new MAF, it probably cost $500+ and it will clearly state that you will need a tune for it to work properly.

You need to replace the MAF when you start getting way up there in HP and the car demands more air than the OEM unit can handle. It's pretty common in forced induction cars...

BTW the line on the OEM MAF has enough length relocate it to the TB

Peace

You really don't need a tune with a cold air intake. It's such a minor thing the car will relearn new values in a short trip down the hiway. MAF not included just means to use your MAF.

The reason why a manufacturer or vendor will state "MAF not included" is because the MAF is shown in the promotional picture. I recently sold a dog crate/kennel on Craig's list and in the picture of the crate was my dog. I know it should be obvious, but nonetheless, I stated "Dog not included".
