Shifter **** Removal
I just recently bought my 01 vette. I have an after market shifter **** i want to install but I cant seem to get the stock **** to unscrew. Is there a special way of me removing it? I dont want to try to force it off by unscrewing it. Thanx for your help!

Hmmmm - this looks different than mine (2000 A4 vert). If I recall, my "key" looked like a big staple and went in horizontally at the base of the top part of the ****. Once you removed the "key" (I pried out mine with vice grips), the **** popped right off.

It does help if you give as many details as possible when you ask a question. We assume you have a manual transmission, but neither your question nor your profile says that.

Using the method in the link above the key should pop right out. It worked like a charm when I did mine.
