i had one from southern car parts a while back and sold it when i thought i was going to get rid of my car, well now that I am keeping it I need to get something in there ASAP I am daily driving it and the noise is driving me nuts! I have been thinking about making my own with some heavy PDF and dynomating one side of it and then carpeting it? has anyone done that? do you think the dynomate will make any difference? Just want the best quaity sound killer possiable.
A partition is only part of the formula for noise reduction, but if I were making one, I wouldn't bother with dynamat. I think most of the tire/road roar transmits through the floor on both sides of where a partition sits. The trunk well is a big drum made of plastic, and you really need to remove the carpet, and put more insulation under it, all the way under the seats. I have a nice, solid partition, and it doesn't seem to be very effective. It does keep stuff from flying around the cabin, though.
Easy pre cut body sound deadener is inexpensive , and simple to install.Or foil backed sounde deadener / heat barrier work well under the carpet.http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c1-a...tion-help.html
Sound partions will help also . I fabricate my own 2" thick , leather wrapped partitions . Only draw back is that the rear speakers have to be relocated .

Did Frost King in the back, then built the divider out of 2 layers of 1/4" plywood covered w/vinyl.....Also added a backing of 1" carpet covered foam, but that was necessary for lighted emblem only (see avatar)...Very noticeable difference...GL

I made one out of 5/8in. flakeboard and black carpet. It came out fantastic, & I'm only in it for like $55. ($25 of that is for a cheap little jigsaw that I didn't have before) & I'm really happy with the way it quieted my exhaust down (LT, no cats, Flowmasters). Build one yourself!
