I have heard that putting on a aftermarket exhaust voids your warranty. Then I heard that it doesn't?
Wasn't there some kind of Class Action that allowed owners to upgrade without fear of losing their Warranty? Who knows with all the things going on in the industry right now!!
I know that they can tell if you are racing and really ruff housing the car though the computer. Again for Warranty protection. The dealerships are again at the point of refusing warranty work at their whim wihich is . Anyone have the true info on this?
Thanks
Ed

Not sure what kind of warranty you have seening that the lastest C5 is now 6 years old.
It use to be that the dealer had to prove that the changed exhaust was in fact the cause of said warranty repair. So I think that as long as the engine has not been opened up you should be fine.
Doesn't GM sell a warranty on used cars Select I think. Thing is a dealer put on a Borla sytem then told the buyer if he wanted the warranty he had to put a stock one back on. I think it is ,but wanted to know if anyone had heard of this before.
Thanks

I am sure it would be an after market warranty and not GM. As far as removing the exhaust I think is

I had an aftermarket cat back exhaust on mine and never had a problem with either the factory or an aftermarket warranty. I could see the warranty not covering parts that may have been damaged by an aftermarket install, but most warranties don't cover exhaust components anyway and what could be damaged by installing an exhaust.
From what I understand is that header/catback systems will not void your warranty. Now if you show up to the dealer with a cam that's putting cracks in the pavement, they might say.Jsut depends on your dealer.I still have a year left on my warranty.I used it 2 weeks after I got my car.

I believe you are referring to the Magnussen-Moss Act (check my spelling). It basically says they have to prove your mod directly casued the failure that they don't want to cover. But sometimes you have to fight to win.
I belive this only applys to New Car Warranties and that any aftermarket warranty company can right in what will and won't void their warranty.
I have a GMPP, It is an extended warranty that you buy while your factory warranty is still in effect. I bought my car new in Jan of 04 and in Sept of 06 I extended my warranty (I bought from Fitchner, a forum vendor) its good until Sept of 2010.
I have a Corsa Touring cat back and according to Corsa's website (look at the FAQ) the cat back does not void new car warranties.
I just wanted to say thanks for the replies, that is what I thought. Yea some of the dealerships are trying to get out of anything they can,
and just put the screws to everone they can. Is there a pattern here
