So, My new supervisor thinks he knows about cars. He drives Infinity G35X (4 door), and says he got lessons from a professional racer.
Anyhow... It seems he really lacks knowledge about Corvettes. He knows its a fast car, but that's about all. I told him how C5-Rs won 4 times 24Hrs Lemans, and C6-R continued winning. Its not another muscle car, it competes with Italians - and beat Ferarris, Lambos, etc. It's the only American car to have made such news in Europe and is the American Legend.
He tells me I get all this news from the Corvette Forum - which is made up of guys who are just rich, who know nothing about cars or driving. He really has no clue how serious guys are on this forum, and how well they know their Corvettes.....

You have such idiots at Work ???
Seriously, a lot of folks have this attitude -- I absolutely did -- which is a holdover from the gold chain/bad toupee days of the late 70's/early 80's. (And I hate to say it, but some of the show crowd, who I like for the most part, still reinforce this image).
If he's such a pro, perhaps you could let him take your Vette out for a spin and perhaps his attitude will change. One drive in a C4 did it for me 5 years ago.
Also, hook him up to other sources of Vette racing news (like ALMS sites, SCCA, the car mags, etc.) Showing always beats telling....

I have to agree with Argent C5's statement about the "show crowd". But you know the Corvette is a symbol of different things for different people. You want one for the statis image, well this is the USA and thats OK. You want one for the performance image that thats OK too. I personally am about a 15% 85% mix of the two. Lets face it, what draws us to the car first? How it looks. No one wants to drive an ugly car. Once your in it however, its the performance that grabs you and won't let go.
As for your supervisor, he seems like many supervisors that I have worked for. The only reason that they are supervisors is that they want more money and like bossing people around. Not to mention, they usually have huge egos. Education and intelligence are not a requirement. Point him to Road & Track magazine, a publucation with a decidely European slant for the exotic. Even they have praised the C5 Corvette. They also report on the ALMS series and the C5R and C6R wins over the likes of Jaguar, Aston-Martin, Porsche and Ferrari.

I'm well aware of those FACTS !!! In mid 2000's the C5R had left critics with their jaws dropped..... while winning 4 times in a row. Not to mention - winning 1st and 2nd positions against the mentioned "exotics". One of the magazines wrote, "the question is not whether the Corvette will win next race - but rather which one".
