I bought the Corvettes of Houston one and performed the install as written on the sheet. I ran into a few little bumps in the road but all in all the job is done and working.
First thing that kind of sucked was that I found out my DC outlets are blown... I'm guessing a fuse. I tested it with my phone charger and nothing. It was working last night, so I think the lighter adapter part of the installation blows the fuse really quick. So I plugged everything back in as it should be stock, turned the key on, waited for it to disengage the wheel, turned the key off but didn't pull the key out and unplugged the harness. Then I plugged the CLB into the harness and then noticed the green wire on the CLB was out of its socket! (WTF?) So I straightened out the threads, put it back in tight and wrapped the wires with electrical tape so that it cannot come out again.
After that I pulled the sticky tabs, mounted the box, put the interior back together (which was somewhat a PITA) and took the car for a test drive. No issues at all. However, the green wire that came out worries me a little so I'm leaving some tools in the car just in case.
As for the fuses, where are the interior fuses located?
Thanks... I tried to pull the fuse (which I believe is #7 20amp) but that thing is really in there. I'll wait until tomorrow morning to check all the fuses. I'm too tired now.
Awesome. Thanks. I'm going to run to Autozone and pick up some fuses. I used to have a box of them, but my friend's raided the garage for parts... Can't find them anywhere. LOL
Just buy the one from one of the three vendors on here. Thunder Racing, Corvettes of Dallas, or Corvettes of Houston (which is where I bought my from).
I have to say Corvettes of Houston sent that sucker out faster than I could get a tracking number! Thumbs up!!! I bought it Friday night, and Monday afternoon I emailed them to see if it'd been sent out yet, and as I pressed send, it was walked up to the front door by the mail man! Good times! Never received a part that fast from another state.
BTW, found both the fuses for the 12v outputs were bad... I went and picked up the wrong fuses before I even opened the fuse box (thinking they were the same size fuses in my C4 and Trans Am) so I'll need to pick up the right ones tomorrow.
OK you guys got me scared so went to do some checking on my car
1. I can turn my steering wheel with out the key in
2. I didn't take it all the way apart but I do see a box wire tied up neatly that looks like a CLB
so is it safe to say mine is done before I got the car and now I just hope the dealer is not the one who did it.
I'm going to have to take a better look at it because I think it was the second one. And the problem with the second one is that it is GM fix thats not really a fix??
