BluByU, at first I thought you were crazy, but I copied the pic of your wheels from your album and then looked at it side by side with mine and it looks like the spokes of mine are thicker. Is that what you are talking about?
no.. the chrome wheels in my sig pic and in my album were aftermarket wheels (they came with the car when I bought it about a year ago).. the aftermarket chrome z06 wheels are significantly heavier than the stock wheels... I've heard +/- 5lbs or more!!
original z06 wheels are for sale all the time on the forum for abour $500+ shipping in mint or near mint condition.. I would recommend getting a set.. when I changed mine out the cars feel was fantastic!! it felt light, more nimble, better reacting.. hard to explain..
there is a small chance the ones on your car are the OEM wheels chromed... but its pretty rare.. and chrome wheels were not a factory option (someone would have had to send them off to be done).
Blu, you can't just automatically assume they are aftermarket wheels. I have chromed OEM's and so does a friend of mine. Many dealerships had the factory wheels chromed and they were sold new like that. Or the owner could have just had them chromed himself..perhaps with a chrome exhange program like Corvette Garage offers.
Paul - Look on the inside of the wheels and if it says "GM" or "Speedline" in there they are factory wheels.
I am not saying they aren't replica's...there's certainly a good chance they are, but to automatically assume any chromed Z06 wheel is aftermarket is silly. There are plenty of chromed factory wheels out there. Additonally, not all of the Z06 replica's were found to be signficantly heavier...yes, many were....but others were found to be pretty close, depending on the manufacturer. Best way to find out would be for him to weigh them.

yea.. i thought i covered that part with this pit of my post right above yours... the odds are against it being an OEM unit... but you never know.. only one way to find out... take a look..
personally i wouldnt want even a few pounds of extra mass at the outer edge of the rim.. makes a huge difference.. i even went with the lightest tires I could find..
all is good.. just take a peek and see what you have and then consider your options!
Guys, the x-owner said that were just like the factory wheels, but chromed. I will try to look on the inside this weekend. Anyway I'm glad Blu brought up the wheels, it's all good info.

I know, I was just rehashing that part. But the fact is you told him he had aftermarket wheels before you really knew.

Not a bad thing that Blu brought up the wheels, but telling you they are aftermarket before knowing for sure, was silly.
Don't obsess about a couple of pounds on your wheels. Just enjoy your beautiful car. Doesn't matter anyway, unless you track your car. Some guys pick about every little thing. Really love that Camaro. I had a 67SS back in the day, but I've always admired the 2nd gen Z28/SS cars.

I hear what you are saying bro, but he seems to be a guy who is pretty detail oriented, and from what I have heard some of the replica's really do make a difference in the feel of the car, so although its not a huge deal, its definitely worth taking the time to bring the facts to the table for him to decide on.
"Like factory wheels" are not OEM factory wheels... there is a difference in the feel of the car by added unsprung rotating weight (especially at the edge *rim* of the wheels; furtherst from the hub center) - which may be the worst place..
I wouldnt have believed the difference if I wouldnt have felt it myself - GM did a good job designing this cars systems.. especially the exhaust and the wheels!
and for $500.00 getting a nice set of OEM wheels can be a nice cheap performance improvement!!
*-edit-*
BTW: here are some pics of the aftermarket chrome wheels.. looks just like stock.. except the weight.. dont know why they weight some much.. someone probably does.. these are the ones that I took off of my car..
BTW: you can see a comparison of how light the C5 z06 wheels are if you go over to http://www.wheelweights.net
the list all kind of wheel types, sizes, and weights..

whatever you decide on.. its a beautiful good performing car in a fantastic color!
Or if you want chromed OEM wheels you can get them for about $1000 from Bob @ House of Wheels, and I think they come with a 3 year warranty on the chrome. Than sell your Aftermarket wheels for a few hundred bucks. Of course it's probably best to wait until you need tires and do it all in one shot. But anyhow, my opinion is you should stick with chrome, it really makes the blue paint pop. A co-worker of mine has the same car but with the dull grey OEM wheels and its visually a big difference in my opinion.
....this all of course is assuming they turn out to be aftermarket which it sounds like they are based on what the seller said.
