Default Lowering help needed.

I tried to search the forum with no luck. I have a 97' couple with 17/18 wagon wheels. I plan on getting wheels soon but for right now I want to lower both the front and rear. Is there a thread that tells how it is done with pics? I've found threads that talk a little about being able to get 1-1.5" front and rear by just adjustments. Can someone steer me in the right direction.

Be certain to DOUCHE the lowering bolts with WD40 or something similar...especially the front...It's kind of tricky getting to the threads below the leaf spring...use a can with a nozzle for best results...Also, I found it necessary to use a 10mm wobble socket to get on the front lowering bolts without having to pull the shocks....Turn the front bolts COUNTERCLOCKWISE all the way out until they bottom out...You'll still have plenty of tire clearance...

The rears are another story...Leave about 3/8 of an inch threads exposed above the nut...Lower the car and test drive it to allow the suspension to "settle"..You may want/need to lower it some more or raise it to match the front...

OP, if you run into a snag you can call me at 719-269-7998

Thanks. I plan on tackling this next weekend. I need to go buy a new floor jack first.

In C5 Tech, use search or search this forum (in the red banner), use keywords "lowering a c5".

You'll find hundreds (thousands?) of past threads with images, caveats, pros/cons, debates and helpful hints.

Since you car is a '97, you'll most likely experience the same issues that most do with this modification. Don't stop at just one past thread, read them all. Read about them before you experience them so you're prepared with tools, lubricants and patience...
