So forum, I park on the street (no garage for my apartment) without a car cover (first mistake). I noticed that there was some clear syrupy substance on my hood from the pine trees above where I park. So as you can imagine, I wasn't in the best mood. Then as I go to clean it off, we get torrential downpours all night.
So I'm stewing away waiting to go see the damage after the rain, and lo and behold, my black car looks like someone took a bunch of white out and had a field day on my hood.
Its dry to the touch and I have to literally scrape this crap off. My question is this. Does anyone know of any cleaner/product that will aid in the removal of this mess without harming my paint? I'll post pics when I get a chance. I've been here for over a year and a half and never seen sap from this tree...what gives?
I have used Adam's Detail Spray with success on tree sap from pine trees.......Spray it on, let it loosen the sap, wipe it off. Works good for me...........

I would wash the car first and get off as much as you can. If there is still remaining sap - you might try some hot (not boiling!) water to dissolve it. Once it's gone, claybar will remove any residue and then you should be able to re-apply your wax or sealant.
Next - get yourself a weatherproof cover if you aren't able to garage park it.
WD40, put it on and let it sit for a minute or so then start wiping it off. Depending on how much sap is on there, you will probably have to repeat this several times. Once it is off, rewax.
Try prepsol, works great. It a pre-paint cleaning solvent used in body shops. I always keep a gallon around works great on getting all kinds of stuff off.
White kerosene mixed 50/50 with water. It will take off all the wax, but will safely remove the tree sap. Then wash the car with dish soap to remove all the wax from the rest of the car. Claybar and then start fresh with 3-5 coats of Zaino Z5 and then start layering with Z2.
