I noticed this a month ago, but didn't really put much thought into it. It's not a big deal, but I figured I'd ask.
- I unlock the car with the FOB
- I put the key in and the seat only moves forward half-way and stops
- I start the car and seat moves fully forward to the saved position
It seems to happen more so when the car has been sitting for a few days. No problems starting the car. No battery issues that I am aware of. She fires up every time without a problem.
Do you try to start it without the seat going to the setting completly? Also look on the back of the fob mine has 2 fobs one for my setting and one for my wife, it should have a #1 or a #2.

Yes.
That's how I have done it since day one. Unlock, get in, put key in, wait until the seat is in position (from my memory setting), then fire her up.
if the seats are still working correctly and you have them moving to a memory set point while you start the car they would stop then resume when they are done.
chances are your memory seat is trying to move to position and its "stalling" possibly due to bad power to the seat. the SCM thinks its commanding the seat to move, and it is waiting for the seat to arrive at its final position. when you start the car it interrupts the seat movement and when cranking is done the seat will attempt to move the rest of the way.
try this. when the seat is moving to position the indicator on your memory seat controls should be on. see if when your seat stops moving that light stays on as if it seat controller is still trying to move it to its final position. then when you start the car and the seat finishes moving the light should go out.
get used to it though, it will probably just get worse. when I try to move my seat all the way forward and back it will randomly stop moving even though it has farther to go. if I release the switch then push it again right away, the seat resumes its movement. its always been like that and I think that's a pretty common problem. I talked to one other person who said he fixed it by replacing the entire wiring harness that supplies power to the seat.

Not to sound overly simplistic, but are you putting the key in before you close the door?
My wife kept complaining about her '01 seat memory acting up, or not working, and it turned out that she wasn't getting the door closed before putting the key in the ignition. Once she made sure to close the door FIRST, she had no more problems.
My 2 cents...

Thats a possibility. The key needs to be in and the door closed to correctly recall the memory setting
If the Battery is at a min voltage the seat will only move a short distance then the car will stop the power draw until the car is started. That's why it is more frequent after the car sits for a few days. How old is you battery?
I have the exact same problem with 2003, and had it to the dealership last week (A really great one) and the tech took the seat out and lubed the tracks ane all the motors, but said if it keeps happening I'll need to have new track assemblies installed? Thankfully I have GMPP !

I replaced my seat track at my own cost. it did not fix this problem. when I first put it in it appeared to be working better only for a short period of time, then it was back to its same old tricks again. I had a broken adjuster, so it wasn't money wasted or anything, but it did not fix the power seat stopping.
My 99 has the opposite Seat Gremlin. I have to put the key in the ignition before I shut the door. If not the seat will advance completely forward. (thank God I'm a small frame guy) After a great deal of research and trying everything imaginable the problem continues. This would include having the SCM replaced under warranty. The seat works great, but the memory option is usless.
